Standing united we are stronger

Standing united we are stronger

Dear readers

As you'll read in this edition of Insight, our industry is facing a complex set of challenges.
Patrick Odier
by Patrick Odier, Former Chairman of the Board

We are midway through the consultation process on several pieces of draft legislation, for example FFSA and FinIA, which will have a significant impact on client services and the way in which we transact business in future. In this context it is crucial to systematically bear the competitiveness of Switzerland in mind and regard it as a priority in order to develop the financial sector and to preserve jobs in Switzerland.

For this reason, we need to present a united front within the industry. We can get our views across much more powerfully by speaking with one voice. On this note, I am delighted to welcome five new members to the Board of Directors from September: Stefano Coduri, CEO of BSI Bank; Dr. Jürg Gutzwiller, CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors of RBA Holding; Roland Ledergerber, CEO of St.Galler Kantonalbank; Urs Rohner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse AG; and Prof. Axel Weber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS Group. The vision and experience that these new members bring will provide powerful support to the Swiss Bankers Association in defending the interests of the sector as a whole.

I hope that you will find this edition of Insight interesting reading and wish you a pleasant and successful autumn.
